FLAGLER STATION
Project: Flagler Station Apartments
Type: Affordable Housing
Location: West Palm Beach, FL
Firm: B Pila Design Studio
For this project, my responsibilities included co-creating and designing the lobby and common areas, including the leasing offices, gym, multi-purpose room, mailbox area, and restrooms. I also made material selections for all units and corridors, specifying all materials, lighting, plumbing, and appliances. I presented the design concepts to the developer's team and managed project execution during the construction administration phase through to completion. Additionally, I collaborated in selecting all furnishings, accessories, and art for the final installation.
Can interiors be inspired by the building’s location? Absolutely! With our close proximity to a railroad, we drew inspiration from the luxurious Orient Express. The design features rich dark tones, plush velvet seating, and vintage lighting that evoke a sense of nostalgia. Subtle references to these elegant trains are woven throughout the space—from the intricate ceiling design to the custom high-top industrial metal table, and the oversized wall clock. Here, you’re transported back in time while still enjoying all the modern amenities.
